Biggs & Gunst P.C. is driven to serve their community and make a difference. Whether it is cycling for a cause and raising money for a charity or serving breakfast at a local soup kitchen, service to our community is one of the core values that Biggs & Gunst P.C. was founded upon. Below are just a few of the ways Biggs & Gunst P.C. has given back to our community who has given us so much.
Cycling for a Cause
Partners Brandon Biggs & Scott Gunst are avid cyclists and ambassadors for the sport. Brandon and Scott have also participated in several organized cycling events which raise money for charitable causes.
One Day Ride Across Michigan
In 2017, Brandon Biggs participated in the 150-mile One Day Ride Across Michigan (ODRAM). Aside from being an amazing cycling experience, ODRAM is also a fundraising event for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. With your help Biggs & Gunst raised nearly $1,000.00 for the Foundation and was the top fundraising team for 2017.
Not content with simply participating in ODRAM, Brandon and Scott are in contact with the ride organizers to get more involved in the planning of the 2018 ODRAM. In addition, Biggs & Gunst has set a team fundraising goal of $2,000.00 for the 2018 ride.

Helping Those Less Fortunate
Biggs & Gunst is committed to helping those in the community who are less fortunate. Our work includes helping feed the hungry as well as raising money to purchase toys for children during the holidays.
Food Gatherers
One in seven people suffer from food insecurity in Washtenaw County. This means that more than 51,000 of our neighbors must make the tough choice between paying bills or feeding their families. To provide enough to feed these individuals, 6.4 million pounds of food needs to be raised annually. Food Gatherers serves Southeast Michigan as a leader in the collection and distribution of food to those in need. Food Gatherers breaks the mold of traditional food banks with an overwhelming distribution of fresh food and healthy options to those they serve. These come in the form of hot meals, nutritious snacks or emergency groceries to low-income adults, seniors and children in Washtenaw County. Food Gatherers have even created a “party in a bag,” these contain all the essential items needed to throw a child a birthday party and put a smile on their face.
Food Gatherers relies heavily on nongovernmental support in terms of donated food, financial gifts, and volunteers to service the community. To aid in their efforts, Biggs & Gunst has recently partnered with Food Gatherers to collect both food and monetary donations this holiday season. For every $1.00 raised, Food Gatherers can provide 3 meals to those in need. Biggs & Gunst is proud to be associated with such a great organization and it is just one more way are giving back to our community.

Educating Future Lawyers
Educating young people on the way our court system works and getting them involved in the legal experience is a wonderful way to introduce those who are thinking about becoming future lawyers. As such Biggs & Gunst is committed to helping those who are passionate about the law realize their dream of becoming a lawyer one day.
East Islip Mock Trial Program
The East Islip Mock Trial Program is an after school program offered by the East Islip High School, New York. Partner Scott Gunst was one of the founding members of the Program and is a great way to introduce young individuals to civil or criminal litigation and several past members now practice law. In the time since the team was founded it has quickly become one of the top mock trial teams on Long Island, New York and became the New York State Mock Trial Champions in 2008. Besides participating in the New York State Bar Association Mock Trial Tournament, the mock trial team regularly participates in several other legal related events throughout the school year.
Biggs & Gunst is a proud sponsor of the team and donates to help students offset the costs of participating in these events. In addition, Scott advises the team on the current case each year as well as discusses the law school process and practicing law with the students.

The Michigan Center for Civic Education organizes the Michigan High School Mock Trial Tournament. The program is designed to reenact what takes place in a real court and students take on the roles of attorneys and witnesses and schools compete against each other before real judges and lawyers. Brandon Biggs is proud to volunteer as a Scoring Judge for the 2017-2018 mock trial season.
